Why we do the Equinox or Solstice Burn and what it means to us… David has always been fascinated with rocks. We’ve been all over the world to see ancient civilizations who built with rocks. The ancients needed the calendar to know the season for growing, for astronomical projectionsof the future, and many many more things. It was amazing to see what they left behind for us. Why we do this is our little part of remembering the ancients and what they gave us. As you look at the main middle stone, the far left line is the winter Solstice (December). This is the shortest day of the year, between the 19th, 20th and 21st). The middle line is the Equinox, “equal day & equal night” with the sun. This is every March and September (between the 19th, 20th & 21st). The line to the right is the summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, either June, 19th, 20th or 21st. It is a celebration for our place in the universe. |
